A Wisconsin bus driver is being hailed as a hero this week after she was photographed holding the hand of a crying 4 year-old boy while driving him to kindergarten.

The Augusta Police Department took to social media to share a photo of bus driver Isabel “Izzy” Lane driving a bus as she held the hand of tearful four-year-old Axel Johnson. Though Axel was excited for his first day of school at first, he became anxious and nervous about it as soon as he stepped on the bus, and the little boy immediately burst into tears.

“I picked him up and got him on bus,” Izzy said. “He started to cling to me and I told him, “Buddy, you got this and will have so much fun!”

Axel’s mother was so touched when she saw Izzy holding her son’s hand that she took a picture, and it has quickly gone viral.

“I love that people in my community are kindhearted and Izzy is definitely that,” Axel’s mother Amy Johnson said.

“I didn’t think it was that big of a deal personally just I guess it’s just something that I would do,” Izzy added, going on to say that she’s been moved by all the messages of praise that she’s received online.

Izzy’s small act of kindness ended up having a huge impact on Axel.

“The day after that he was waiting at the bus stop all by himself, he got on all smiles and talking to me the whole time so he is doing much better now,” Izzy said.

Social media users just can’t get enough of what Izzy did.

“What a precious gesture! Thank you Isabel Lane for being such a compassionate and caring employee! Augusta Beaver Proud!!!’ one social media user wrote, with another adding, “Omg this is just the sweetest photo ever.”

“Why are you the greatest human alive?” a third person asked.
