A gross video is going viral this week showing exactly why it’s important to wipe down seats on airplanes before sitting in them.

During an August 20 Air Canada flight from Victoria, British Columbia to Toronto, passengers wiped down leather headrests on their seats with regular sanitation wipes. Afterwards, the wipes showed just how filthy the seats really were.

Three wipes were used to clean the headrests of three different seats in the same row, and all of them ended up covered in dirt.

“We did not talk to the crew,” one of the passengers said. “We have put out a complaint to Air Canada today (September 3), but they haven’t responded yet.”

“Hey everyone, just a friendly reminder to wipe down your seats when you travel by air,” the video description reads. “Recently I traveled with Air Canada and it turns out staff almost never clean the headrests of the seats (and if they do, they only go for the easily-accessible aisle seats). Gross!”

The video has quickly gone viral, with social media users everywhere being completely grossed out by how dirty the airline seats were. I don’t know about you, but I will certainly be bringing some sanitation wipes with me the next time I fly on an airplane.

Check out the video for yourself below.
