The Old Farmer’s Almanac has been predicting the weather for people ever since it was first published way back in 1792. While many people turn to the internet or smartphones for their weather forecasts these days, The Old Farmer’s Almanac is still incredibly popular, as it sells over 2.6 million copies a year.

Weather is just one of many thing that The Old Farmer’s Almanac covers. The 2020 version includes tons of unique stories, home remedy and gardening advice, moon phase info, celestial happenings, recipes, wit, wisdom, folklore, fun, and much more! The 2020 version is now available to buy all over North America, and its prediction for the winter of 2019-2020 has people everywhere going into panic mode.

“Get ready for shivers, snowflakes, and slush!” The Old Farmer’s Almanac warns. “Big chills and strong storms will bring heavy rain and sleet, not to mention piles of snow!”

The 2020 Old Farmer’s Almanac predicts that the United States will have below-normal winter temperatures from the Heartland westward to the Pacific and in the Desert Southwest, Pacific Southwest, and Hawaii. Other places, however, will have above normal winter temperatures. In places where it is cold, this weather will continue through Valentine’s Day, so it’s going to be a VERY long winter indeed!

Making matters worse, cold weather will continue into the spring in some parts of the country.

“This could feel like the never-ending winter, particularly in the Midwest and east to the Ohio Valley and Appalachians, where wintery weather will last well into March and even through the first days of spring,” said Almanac editor Janice Stillman.

As winter turns to spring, temperatures will warm up in Alaska and the eastern two-thirds of the Lower 48. Then, summer will bring “scorching” temperatures to the High Plains, “sizzle and drizzle” from the middle of the country eastward to the coast, and “wicked hot” weather to the Northeast.

If these predictions ring true, it’s going to be quite a winter for us Americans!
