A mother is being slammed online after she made her 10 year-old son’s friends sign a bizarre “sleepover contract” that banned various activities.

The unnamed woman, who is believed to be American, lists four strict rules in a letter which includes a blank space for the date and signature. In the contract, the mother explained that the 10 year-olds are banned from “tickling or undressing in front of each other,” and are not allowed to “shout or complain.”

The strict rules went viral after they were shared on the social media site Reddit, with internet users branding the mother “insane.”

“Touching/tickling of other people will result in immediate physical separation that could remain in place until pick up time. This means we keep our hands to ourselves and off of each other,” the contract starts. “Changing of clothes will be done independently and in private space with the individual not in company of anyone else. This means no nudity in front of anyone else, whatsoever.”

“Disruptions including excess volume of voice or electronics will result in suspension of such privileges. This means no shouting, interrupting or blasting the TV or iPad,” the rules continue. “Complaining will not be tolerated. Constructive requests are encouraged in a calm, polite tone of voice. This means, you wait to have my attention and acknowledgement before you start speaking to me.”

Moving to the agreement, the contract ends:

“I have read and understand the rules and conditions of having a play date at Ms. [name removed]’s house and I agree to show respect at all times. If my behavior reaches and maintains standards then a fun time will be had and brunch will occur together the following day. If my behavior falls below standards then future play dates or sleep overs might not occur again without serious consideration and stipulation.’

I further acknowledge that these rules are in place for the comfort  and safety of all residents and guests in Ms X’s home. I will do my best to preserve Ms X’s calm demeanor and peace of mind by abiding her wishes.”

Reddit users wasted no time in blasting the woman for the bizarre contract.

“That is crazy. I can’t remember a time in my childhood where we didn’t have mixed sleepovers. Used to be pretty standard for birthday parties. Especially 5th grade and up,” one social media user commented. “Camping in someone’s garden for example. We’d play truth or dare and spin the bottle. Good times.”

“No kidding,” another added. “Honestly if I had kids and one of their friends’ parents expected them to sign something like this I don’t think I’d be comfortable letting my kid go spend the night.”

Others argued that while the rules were not out of line, making a contract was strangely extreme.

“I have kids games day at my house, and I talk to the parents and kids about house rules… but this is very odd,” another person wrote. “My horrible list of rules, stay out of my room. Use a napkin please, be nice to the puppy and we are here to have fun, if you get stressed and aren’t having fun talk to me, my house is a safe place.”
