A family from Virginia had set up a doorbell camera to try and catch whoever was stealing their American flag, but instead, they ended up with an adorable video that has since gone viral.

As Mike and Jessica Satterthwaite went through the video footage to possibly catch the thief, they were stunned to see their 5 year-old son Preston standing under the flag reciting the pledge of allegiance. After the powerful video went viral, Mike explained that his son had helped him put the flag outside the front door around the Fourth of July.

“As we were installing it [the American Flag], I was explaining the importance of why we respect the flag and how we could never let it hit the ground,” Mike said. He added that a few weeks ago, his family saw that the flag had been “ripped out” and was on the ground as they drove Preston to school.

“Preston was pretty upset that the flag was touching the ground,” Mike said.

Mike told his wife to install a Ring doorbell camera to try and catch whoever had sabotaged their flag in the act. Instead, they saw that Preston stopped to recite the Pledge of Allegiance after taking a bike ride with his dad.

Preston, who is in kindergarten, said during an appearance on “Fox & Friends” that he learned the pledge at school. Much to the delight of viewers around the country, he then recited the pledge again live on the show!
