Every single crew member has now been rescued from a cargo ship that overturned on Sunday night after the U.S. Coast Guard went above and beyond to save them.

The Golden Ray vessel overturned and caught fire soon after it set sail from a Georgia port on Sunday evening. Rescuers with the Coast Guard worked all night to save all two dozen crew members from the vessel, but the fires eventually stopped them from searching for any more crew members, even though four were still missing.

Just when it seemed like all hope was lost, rescuers heard a tapping from the engine room and found the crew members who had not been accounted for.

It turned out that three of the missing crew members were trapped in the lower half of the ship while the fourth member of the crew was stuck in a separate glass room without any food or water. As temperatures on the surface of the ship climbed to 120ºF (49ºC), rescuers were able to drill a 3-foot hole into the side of the vessel so they could rescue the crew members and bring them to safety.

Though the crew members had spent 30 hours in horrible conditions, they were all dubbed medically healthy by doctors.

The Golden Ray, which measures in at 656 feet long and 106 feet wide, had been transporting automobiles to South Korea. While it is unknown how many vehicles were lost, the Coast Guard is just glad that all the crew members survived.
