Elderly Couple Celebrate Great-Grandson’s Birthday By Dressing As His Favorite Characters From ‘Up’

A fun-loving Colorado family has gone viral after they brought characters from the beloved Disney movie Up to life in an adorable way.

Elijah Perman is a 5 year-old boy who has loved the movie Up ever since he was a baby, so when his mother Rachel offered to host one magical-themed photoshoot for his birthday, he knew exactly what he wanted to do for it. Elijah decided to dress up as Russel, the Boy Scout character from the Pixar movie. Then, he convinced his great-grandparents, Richard and Caroline Bain, to dress up as the legendary movie couple Carl and Ellie.

Though 90 year-old Richard and 89 year-old Caroline had never seen the movie, they were all too happy to dress up as the characters!

Richard headed to the thrift store days before the photoshoot to get items for his costume. While he was not able to get a million balloons that could whisk away his house, he did attach a few inflatables to a toy house for the photoshoot.

In the end, Elijah could not have been happier with how the photos turned out.

Rachel explained that the photos weren’t only meant to celebrate Elijah’s birthday, as they were also to celebrate her being cancer-free. Just after Elijah and his twin sister Emilee were born five years ago, Rachel was diagnosed with cancer, and she was devastated to think that she might not live to see her children’s birthdays in the future.

“I had fears if I would even get to see their fifth birthday,” Rachel said. “My oldest [child] was 5 at the time and I hated not knowing if I would get the same time with them that I got with her.”

Now that Rachel is cancer free, she can celebrate her children’s birthdays in peace!

Elijah’s twin sister Emilee also got her very own birthday photoshoot, with her choosing a unicorn theme for hers.

We would like to wish both Elijah and Emilee a very happy birthday, and to congratulate their mom on being cancer free!
