A New York delivery man has been accused of stealing $90,000 worth of cake after surveillance footage captured him smuggling 1,000 baked goods out of a warehouse over a few months.

David Lliviganay, an employee of Lady M Confections, was caught on camera raiding the freezers before smuggling bags of the confectioneries outside to his car. The Long Island-based brand is known for it’s signature Millie crêpes, which sell for up to $90 and are popular among celebrities like Martha Stewart and Oprah Winfrey.

A lawsuit claims that Lliviganay stole the crêpes so that he could sell them to other venders. The company had no idea the cakes were even missing until they were told that other vendors were selling them at discounted prices. Once they found out someone was stealing from them, company officials launched a “thorough and exhaustive investigation” that involved going through their surveillance footage. This eventually led them to finding out that Lliviganay was the culprit.

One staffer with the company said that they have increased their security in the wake of these thefts.

“Now, every night the bakers walk around doing inventory of all the cakes,” the staffer said.

Lliviganay has since plead guilty to petit larceny and is due to be sentenced at Queens Criminal Court on September 24. The lawsuit states that Lady M is seeking to recover costs of the missing cakes as well as damages,

“Lady M takes great responsibility and pride when shipping our cakes to you. Every order is hand-packed and handled with care so that it will arrive to your door in mint condition,” the company’s website states. “Lady M is not responsible for lost or stolen packages.”
