It’s been 24 years since the legendary artist Bob Ross passed away back in 1995, but his work is still loved by millions of fans all over the globe. That’s why so many are so excited right now after it was announced that his artwork is being exhibited in in a solo show outside his studio for the first time.

The art of Ross is being exhibited at the Franklin Park Arts Center in Purcellville, Virginia until October 15. The exhibition is called “Happy Accidents,” referring to the artist’s famous catchphrase: “We don’t make mistakes here, we have happy accidents.”

Each of the two dozen paintings that are on display in the exhibition were first featured on the Ross’ hit PBS program, “The Joy of Painting,” which ran from 1983 until 1994. The television program showed Ross creating landscapes with his signature wet-on-wet style, which allowed him to complete each artwork in under 30 minutes.

“There’s a very emotional reaction that people have when they see the paintings in person,” said Elizabeth Bracey, the exhibition’s curator. “Most of the pieces were created in 30 minutes or less and it’s amazing to see the beauty and the wonder that he was able to create with this very fast and simple technique.”

The artwork of Ross has experienced a revival in recent years after episodes of “The Joy Of Painting” surfaced on YouTube. In fact, one episode of the show has been viewed over 21 million times since being posted.

Ross was tragically just 52 years-old when he died of a lymphoma one year after he finished filming his show. Now, Bracey is hoping to take her exhibition to other locations in the US and Canada in 2020, as well as travel with the works for viewings in Canada, Belgium and the Netherlands.
