A hilarious video is going viral this week showing the moment a baboon interrupted a meal at a Cape Town, South Africa vineyard and proceeded to go to town on a plate of spaghetti and garlic bread. The alpha male Chacma baboon had diners fleeing their seats, but he seemed totally unfazed as he enjoyed his own meal.

The baboon ended up taking fifteen minutes to finish off the two dishes with staff at the Groot Constantia vineyard unsure how to deal with their unwelcomed guest. Once he was finished, the baboon hopped off the table and ran back into the vines to the nearby mountains.

“The incredible thing is the baboon looked like he was perfectly at home sitting at the dinner table and showed no signs of any nervousness,” said 50 year-old witness Tanya May. “It was as if he had booked for lunch and turned up for his table and he was perfectly well behaved and although he was eating with his paws did not cause any damage at all.”

“When he finished his first spaghetti dish he moved to a second table but the diner picked up her bottle of wine and said the baboon could have her meal but not her vino!” she added. “He ate her pasta and then had a pick at her husband’s burger then ate her garlic bread.”

Groot Constantia is South Africa’s oldest wine producing vineyard, as it has been around since 1685. The vineyard has spent £50,000 on a special fence to keep the baboons out, and it also has a team of baboon monitors who shoo away any who breach the perimeter to look for food.
