In between calls on the 18th anniversary of 9/11 this past week, fire engine operator Thaddeus Marr and his fellow crew members stopped in at Back Yard Burgers to grab some lunch. When they walked in, they had no idea that they were about to be met with a major surprise.

Unbeknownst to the firefighters, Back Yard Burgers manager Jeff Pepperman had received a call earlier that day from an anonymous donor who had a very specific set of instructions for him. In honor of the bravery and sacrifices that were made by the first responders on 9/11, the donor wanted to feed every first responder who entered the restaurant that day. The donor was so determined to make this happen that he that he had to rearrange his finances just to do it.

When Jeff agreed to the request, the donor reached into his pocket and pulled out $911 to fund the meals. When Jeff saw this specific amount of money, he was so touched that he began to cry.
