“Alaskan Bush People” star Matt Brown just revealed to his fans that he has been sober for one year.

The oldest of Billy and Ami Brown’s children, Matt had to leave the reality show after his addictions got out of control. After struggling with alcoholism, Matt entered treatment for a second attempt at rehab last year.

“I struggle with substance abuse, and after a year of ups and downs, I decided to return to treatment,” he said at the time.

When Matt left the facility early, many worried that he had fallen off the wagon. However, he managed to stay sober, and he just showed off the sobriety coin he earned to his fans.

“A year and almost 2 month’s ago, I started out on a quest of self understanding, and awareness, to find a better way of existing in the world,” Matt wrote alongside a photo of the coin. “It has forever changed my life for the better 🙂 This coin is a reminder, Never give up! Never surrender!”

In the midst of his battle with addiction, Matt had a falling out from his family, and his father banished him from their reality show. Rumor has it that since getting sober, Matt has gotten close to his family again.

Matt unfortunately missed the wedding of his brother Gabe back in June, and the reason he was not there is not clear at this time. We’re glad to see that Matt has gotten his life together, and we hope that he is able to stay sober for many years to come!
