School can be a difficult experience for kids, as they all just want to fit in and be “cool.” This makes it especially hard for kids who have medical conditions that make them look physically different. Gianessa Wride is a seven year-old girl who knows all about this since she suffers from alopecia, a condition that causes someone’s hair to fall out in large clumps.

Doctors believe that Gianessa’s alopecia was brought on by the stress of her grandmother passing away, and her mother Daniella noticed it when she was brushing her daughter’s hair one day.

Gianessa, who lives in Salem, Utah, hates wearing scarves or wigs because she is proud of her bald head. Still, Daniella worried about how her daughter would be treated at school, especially when she heard that her school had a “crazy hair day.” Not wanting her daughter to be left out when crazy hair day rolled around, Daniella adorned Gianessa’s head with beautiful gems.

Not only did Gianessa’s crazy hair day look win over her school, it also went viral and won over internet users everywhere.

Gianessa embraces her baldness in a way that many find inspiring.

“I love being bald,” Gianessa explained. “I can do things to my head that other kids can’t.”

We applaud Gianessa for being so confident and embracing what makes her different!
