A video is going viral this week showing some wedding guests team up to surprise newlyweds with an incredible rendition of “Stand By Me,” moving the couple to tears in the process.

Before the recent wedding of Shane and Rachel McNally in Carrickmacross, County Monaghan, their friend Hannah O’Brien realized that the guest list included tons of musical folks. That’s when she got the idea to coordinate a surprise musical performance for her pals’ big day.

“I realized that there were going to be plenty of singers and musicians attending the wedding and saw the opportunity to do something special for the happy couple who love music,” Hannah said. “I asked family and friends from both sides and we held secret rehearsals for 5 weeks running up to the big day with [the band] Starling Blue teaching the harmonies and melody.”

At the actual ceremony, seventeen guests that included the bride’s father made their way up to the altar to belt out Ben E. King’s timeless 1960 tune. The couple themselves were caught totally off guard by the performance, and they can be seen wiping back tears as they watched it.

Wedding videographer Ray Youre captured the moment on camera, and after he posted it online, it immediately went viral.

“I’ve never seen anything like this done before and I’ve been to A LOT of weddings,” Youre joked in his post.

Social media users can’t get enough of the surprise performance.

“Aw absolutely amazing the lengths some friends and family go too to fulfill your special day ….beautiful!! Well done all,” one social user commented.
