A third grade girl is being hailed as a hero after she went above and beyond to help cancer patients in her community.

It all started when Abbi Zamani’s mother started undergoing treatment at the Hux Cancer Center in Terre Haute, Indiana. Abbi wanted to help the other cancer patients there, so her grandmother helped her do that by hand-sewing pillows for patients at the cancer center.

“I just like all the pillows because it reminds me that everyone needs to be comfortable,” Abbi explained. “I like to let people know that I love them and that they can fight cancer.”

Patients are able to bring the pillows into the infusion room, where they receive chemotherapy. Abbi and her grandma have made fifty pillows so far, but they hope to double that number as soon as possible.

“It melts your heart,” said registered nurse Amanda Mouck of Abbi’s pillows. “Especially someone so young who has so much kindness and empathy and compassion in their heart, and wanting to take her time to make these for the patients.”

Amanda added that she is hoping Abbi’s kind deed will inspire other children to do good things for others also.

“I would say other kids have a lot to learn from this little girl,” she said. “I’m hoping that kids her age are watching this and can find the kindness in their hearts to want to give and help others.”

We definitely need more people in the world like Abbi. Find out more about this in the video below.
