Volkswagen Beetles have been iconic cars for years, and now, people have found an entirely new way to enjoy them.

The Super Bugger is a hybrid vehicle that is both a Volkswagen Beetle and an RV. Created in the 1970s, the Super Bugger was intended for people that loved Beetles so much they could live in them. They weren’t actually created by Volkswagen, as a company called Super Campers was behind them instead. Super Campers would buy Beetles and upcycle them into RVs. They would then sell the super unique vehicles for $6,000 in 1975, which is $28,000 in today’s money.

Super Campers no longer exists, and people had forgotten about the Super Buggers for years. However, one family kept their Super Bugger in good shape and recently showed it at a car show, bringing the car into the spotlight once again. Though the inside is tiny, it is also very impressive.

The whole back of the Super Bugger is a kitchen/dining room, which includes a desk and seating. A stovetop with two burners and a sink is next to the desk, and all around this are storage cupboards. There is no bed in the Super Bugger, so people would either have to sleep on the seats or bring a tent.

“It is on an original Volkswagen chassis,” the owner explained. “It’s got all the original running gears, engine, suspension, all that. They literally cut it off, right off of the windshield and took all the metal away and then reinforced the floor plan, and then put the kit on top.”

In the video below, you’ll see a Super Bugger that has not aged as well as the one pictured above. However, we must say that it still looks pretty cool!
