When Officer Tara Waters’ son Quinn was turning three years-old, it seemed like nothing could be better in their lives. Just one day later, however, their lives changed forever.

“Quinnie ‘The Mighty Quinn’ was celebrating his 3rd birthday one Sunday in February and was in Children’s Hospital the next, leading to a diagnosis of a brain tumor on his brain stem, more commonly known as Medulloblastoma. … Medulloblastoma is the most common central nervous system (CNS) embryonal tumour and the most common high grade childhood tumour, accounting for 15-20% of all childhood brain tumours,” Quinn’s Facebook page states. “They are commonly found in children between ages of three and eight, with a higher occurrence in males.”

Tara later added that both she and her husband had to stop working so that they could be there for Quinn during his cancer treatments, putting a huge financial burden on their family. Doctors were thankfully able to remove 95% of the tumor at the base of Quinn’s skull, but he had to spend the last six months in and out of the hospital undergoing grueling treatments and chemotherapy.

After his last round of chemotherapy, Quinn had to stay isolated inside his Weymouth, Massachusetts to protect his fragile immune system. As you can imagine, it was incredibly difficult for a little boy to stay inside all the time. When his community heard about Quinn’s situation, they knew they had to do something to help him, so they stepped up in a big way. Before long, Quinn had countless visitors showing up outside his window!

Find out more about what they did in the video below.
