A McDonald’s employee in Florida has been fired after allegedly refusing to serve two paramedics and saying that service would also be refused to “anyone with a badge.”

“We are aware of the unfortunate incident that took place at one of our restaurants last night,” Casper’s Company, a McDonald’s franchisee operating over 60 restaurants in Florida, said in a statement. . “We, like you, were upset and disappointed and took immediate action. The employee has been terminated.”

The incident reportedly took place last week at a McDonald’s location in Madeira Beach. Paramedic Anthony Quinn of Sunstar Paramedics took to Facebook to claim that the employee told him and his coworker, “We don’t serve your kind here” and that the establishment refused service to “officers” and “anyone with a badge.” Quinn and his coworker continued to try and order, but were repeatedly refused service.

While Quinn later thanked the McDonald’s restaurant for taking “appropriate action,” he also said he regrets sharing the experience on social media because “there were other ways the situation could have been handled.” Casper’s Company released an additional statement saying that they had personally reached out to Quinn to apologize.

“What occurred does not reflect the values of our brand, our franchise, or the love and admiration we have demonstrated consistently for our friends in law enforcement and first responders,” the franchisee stated. “We have reached out to offer our sincerest apology.”

It’s sad that the men and women in uniform who work hard to protect our country every day are treated so poorly these days. They deserve so much better than this.
