Former President George W. Bush Announces Birth Of His First Grandson

Former President George W. Bush is overjoyed right now after he welcomed his first grandson, Henry Harold “Hal” Hager, on August 2.

Hal is the third child of George’s daughter Jenna Bush Hager and her husband Henry Hager, and he is the first grandson for the former president and his wife Laura.

“@laurawbush and I are thrilled to welcome Henry Harold Hager to our family,” George wrote on Instagram after the birth. “We are happy for the proud parents, @jennabhager and Henry. And pleased that Mila and Poppy have a little brother to love. We thank God that mom and baby are healthy, and we look forward to many years of loving the boy known as Hal.”

Though George is undoubtedly very happy about the birth, Jenna joked that he was not so happy about her choice of name for her son.

“My dad was a little mad that the name wasn’t George but [was] just kidding. He said [Henry] was a cool name,” Jenna joked.

She added that Hal’s older sisters Poppy and Mila are already “crazy about him” and “just so thrilled that they have a little baby brother all of their own.”

“We weren’t exactly sure about the name, but then his big sisters arrived and they called him Hal Pal. So we thought, ‘This is just perfect!'” Jenna said.

Jenna made it clear that she and her husband could not be happier about their little boy’s birth.

“I think when you’re held up in a hospital room with a newborn and you see the light in his eyes, you think, ‘This is what life’s for — to make the world better for our little babes,'” she said. “And even though the news outside these walls isn’t so great, seeing the joy in their eyes, that’s what we’re here to do — make their lives safe,” she said. Raving about her baby boy, Jenna said that he is “a beautiful, funny little man.”

We would like to congratulate the entire Bush family on the birth of Hal!
