Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson just shocked his fans by marrying Lauren Hashian in a secret ceremony in Hawaii. The couple, who are already the parents of 3-year-old Jasmine and 1-year-old Tiana, made the announcement on Instagram.

“We do,” Dwayne wrote in the caption. “August 18th, 2019. Hawaii. Pōmaikaʻi (blessed).”

Dwayne and Lauren met back in 2006 while filming The Game Plan, and fans had been eager for them to get married for years. Dwayne had previously said that he was in no rush to have an actual wedding because it already felt like Lauren was his wife.

“I just refer to her as my wife all the time,” he once joked.

Rumors swirled last year that the couple had already gotten married, and Dwayne addressed this in an interview.

“We were going to get married in the spring and we got pregnant,” Dwayne explained. “Lauren felt like, well, you know, mama [doesn’t want] to take pictures being pregnant in a wedding dress, so we’re just going to wait and not quite sure when, but I know it’s going to happen.”

Dwayne also was not sure if his busy schedule would allow for a wedding.

“I don’t know if it’s shortly [after the baby comes], because right now after this we shoot Jungle Cruise with Emily Blunt and then I go on to shoot the Hobbs movie and we’re just trying to figure out where we can put it in,” he said.

He applauded Lauren for being so patient about the entire situation.

“The great thing with Lauren is she’s such a rock star,” he said. “She’s just like, ‘It’s alright, whenever it’s going to happen we’re going to make it work.’”

In fact, Dwayne often publicly praises Lauren.

Lauren — just bringing motherhood to the next level. Really,” he once said. “She’s balancing being my much better half, and properties and staff, and her career and motherhood and babies and everything. And the unique pressures and responsibilities of being who she is to me.”
