Dolphins Rescue Dog After He Falls Into Canal And Nearly Drowns

A group of dolphins just came together to save an 11 year-old Doberman named Turbo after he fell into a canal and almost drowned.

Cindy Burnett, Turbo’s owner, said that she was out when her dog wandered outside and fell off a wall separating his home from a canal in Marco Island, Florida. She was horrified when she got home and discovered he was missing, and she immediately went out looking for him.

It turns out that Turbo had become stuck in the canal as the wall he had fallen off was too hard for him to climb. After 15 long hours of paddling, Turbo had become exhausted and dehydrated, and it became clear he would not be able to stay above water much longer. That’s when some dolphins stepped up to save him.

When the dolphins saw that Turbo was drowning, they started swimming around him making as much noise as they could. Finally, a neighbor heard all the commotion and looked outside to see that Turbo was stuck in the water.

“In fact, they made so much noise that some people who lived nearby happened to hear them and investigated why they were being so loud,” reported Snackay. “Then they noticed the dog trapped below the wall in the canal water.”

Firefighters rushed to the scene and got Turbo out of the water. Though the dog was shivering and had a few cuts, he was otherwise totally fine. He was immediately returned to Cindy, who was just grateful that her dog was alive.

Dolphins have long been known to be highly intelligent creatures who know how to solve complex problems. They also have self-awareness, which is a sign of higher intelligence. Thank goodness these dolphins were in the area at the time to save Turbo!
