Chip and Joanna Gaines of “Fixer Upper” fame are already the parents of five children, but they just decided to expand their family by adopting a new English Mastiff.
Joanna took to Instagram to reveal that Chip had surprised them with the puppy.
“Chip told me he hadn’t surprised us in a while with a new animal and that it was long overdue… we now have more dogs than children ?,” she wrote.
The puppy, who has not yet been named, joins six other dogs at the Gaines farm, and many of them were also bought by Chip as a surprise. Last year, Joanna revealed that Chip had brought home both a puppy and a kitten just before their youngest son Crew was born.
“Chip woke the kids up this morning with this sweet baby goat… cutest wake up call ever!” Joanna wrote on Instagram at the time.
Joanna and Chip have always been open about their full plates as parents, pet owners, and business people.
“I decided that balance is way too meticulous a science to get just right in my daily life, and that it wasn’t something I was very interested in for myself,” Joanna explained earlier this year. “I’ve found that something miraculous happens when I make space for both: Each is made better by the other. My work is undoubtedly more inspired when my kids can be a part of it, and I’m a better mom when my passion for creativity plays a role in how I parent.”
