Boy Makes Shirt That Reads ‘‘I Will Be Your Friend’ To Wear To First Day Of School

Everyone is nervous when it comes to their first day of school, as we all are eager to make a good first impression on the people we are about to spend the year with. Realizing this, a little boy decided to make a special shirt to wear in the hopes of making the day a bit easier for his classmates.

Blake Rajahn is a first grade student at North Fayette Elementary in Fayetteville, Georgia, and on his first day of school, he wore a shirt he made himself that read, “I will be your friend.” The shirt was meant to send the message to his classmates that he is excited to get to know each and every one of them.

“I have to brag on my son,” his mother wrote alongside a photo of Blake after posting it online. “I told him that as a back to school gift, I will make him any shirt he would like. It could have anything – a basketball theme, football, etc. which are all his favorites. He thought a while and said, ‘Will you please make me a shirt that says ‘I will be your friend’ for all the kids who need a friend to know that I am here for them?’”

“Never underestimate your kid’s heart for others!” she added. “I love my sweet Blake! #stopbullying.”

The post quickly went viral, touching the hearts of people all over the world. His mother later said that Blake has been stunned at how much support he has gotten, as he did not see anything special about his actions.

“He doesn’t understand why everyone thinks this is a big deal because he thought everyone thinks like him,” she said. “He said ‘Oh this is so great because now more and more people will have more and more friends!’”

“My hope for the post is for everyone to know that no matter their age, you can always have compassion and love for others,” the proud mother continued.

She certainly does have a lot to be proud of. We need more people in the world like Blake!
