An adorable video is going viral this week showing a sloth thank it’s rescuer in the best way possible after getting stuck in a busy road with oncoming traffic.

José Aldenizio is a 50 year-old animal-lover who was driving on a busy road in Angra dos Reis, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil when he noticed a sloth slowly trying to cross the street. Knowing that the sloth would never make it across without being hit by a car, Aldenizio knew he had to help him. That’s why he pulled over and ran over to the sloth, picked it up in his arms, and carried it across to the other side of the busy road.

Aldenizio could have just left the animal in the grass, but he didn’t stop there. Instead, he held the sloth up to a nearby tree trunk to give him a safe place to hang out.

Once the sloth had safely taken hold of the tree trunk, Aldenizio went to leave and waved goodbye to his new little friend. Much to his surprise, the sloth waved back at him, indicating that the animal knew what he had done for him. Video of the sweet gesture has quickly gone viral, touching the hearts of people all over the world.
