Justo Gallego is a 93 year-old man who has spent the last 50 years building a cathedral by hand in Madrid, Spain. His goal has been to create a place of worship “unlike any other,” and his efforts have paid off in a big way.

Though it’s still unfinished, the building is full of impeccable detail thanks to the hard work of Justo, who built it using cement, old tires, and used bottles. The building includes a crypt (with an impressive staircase), and a parish hall as well as other areas of worship.

Justo has sold all of the material possessions he has, even his house, just to contribute to the construction. He’s currently living frugally inside the cathedral he built, and he intends to keep working on it until he dies. He knows he can’t finish the project before his death, but he would like to be buried there after he passes. Justo has no idea what will happen to the church after his death, as he plans to put it in God’s hands.

Making this even more amazing is the fact that Justo has no training in architecture or construction, yet he was still able to figure out how to build the cathedral from the ground up. God really has been watching over him all this time, as that’s the only way this can be explained!

“While he was building a big cathedral for God, god was building him a paradise in heaven,” one social media user commented, with another adding, “Can we set up a GoFundMe to build a Statue of Him near the Cathedral?”
