A 23-year-old Army recruit just got his first haircut in fifteen years just so he could enlist in the United States Army.

The Salt Lake City Army Recruiting Battalion took to social media to share video of Reynaldo Arroyo of Riverside, California getting his first haircut so he could enlist. As he prepared to get his hair cut, Reynaldo explained that he had moved to Missoula, Montana, and was “really excited to be enlisting in the Army.”

The Army has many rules when it comes to men’s hair, including that it isn’t allowed to touch shirt collars or cover the eyebrows or ears when combed. That’s why Reynaldo had to get his long locks cut in order to make his Army dreams come true.

The video opens with Reynaldo sitting in the barber’s chair with small little ponytails around the nape of his neck. He can be seen grimacing and making faces as the barber starts cutting his hair off. He clearly did not know what to think about what was happening! At one point, the hairstylist even lays his cut of the ponytail in his lap.

The video ends with the young recruit getting the sides of his head shaved before he reveals his final hairdo while holding a Ziploc bag full of his hair. You just have to see how good he looks afterwards!

Reynaldo will be donating his several feet of hair to Locks of Love, a nonprofit charity that takes donated hair and uses it in making free hairpieces for disadvantaged children suffering from alopecia or cancer treatment.

“Hopefully some lucky little girl is going to get it,” Reynaldo said.
