There is an old saying that it’s never too late to find love, and these two centenarian newlyweds are certainly proof of that!

John and Phyllis Cook met at the Kingston Residence of Sylvania in Ohio, and they hit it off right from the start. After dating for about a year, John and Phyllis got married earlier this week, having a little ceremony right in their assisted living home.

“It wasn’t the plan, but we got here and they said we could marry you here. I said ‘good, let’s get it over with!'” said John, a World War II veteran who recently turned 100. Phyllis, who is originally from West Virginia, is turning 103 on August 8. Her mother lived to be 106, and Phyllis is hoping to make it to an even older age than that.

“To tell you the truth, we fell in love with each other. I know you think that may be a little bit farfetched for somebody our age, but we fell in love with each other,” Phyllis said, with John adding,  “Well, we were just compatible in a whole lot of ways, found ourselves enjoying each other’s company.”

The assisted living home took to Facebook to congratulate the couple.

“Congratulations to the newlyweds! John and Phyllis met while living at Kingston,” the facility wrote. “It’s never too late to find love!!! Join us in congratulating the happy couple!!!”

We wish John and Phyllis many years of happiness to come! Find out more these two lovebirds in the video below.
