The first trailer for Tom Hanks’ upcoming Mister Rogers movie A Beautiful Day In The Neighborhood has just been released, and it’s already touching the hearts of fans from all over the globe.

The biopic is set to star Hanks as the legendary Fred Rogers, who entertained children for decades on his show “Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood,” which ran from 1968 to 2001. The movie, which is going to honor the legacy of Rogers, is loosely based on Tom Junod’s 1998 Esquire article about him entitled “Can You Say … Hero?”

Rogers himself sadly passed away in 2003 at the age of 74, but his legacy of kindness has lived on in the millions of fans who grew up with him that he left behind.

As soon as the trailer was released, internet expressed their excitement about the film. They were particularly enthusiastic about Hanks being cast to play Rogers.

“As far as biopic castings go, I don’t think there’s a more perfect casting than Tom Hanks as Fred Rogers,” one social media user commented, with another adding, “Mr. Rogers coming to save humanity & teach us to love & respect one another like he did when we were kids. Tom Hanks can do no wrong. I can’t wait to see this.”

Others were just excited to see the story of Mister Rogers on the big screen.

“This made me cry the nostalgia of just hearing hello neighbor just made me so happy,” one user commented, with a fourth writing, “Please don’t ruin my childhood. My sentiments exactly! I look forward to seeing the movie.”
