If you’re a fan of the classic 1994 film The Shawshank Redemption, we have some good news for you: the movie is coming back to theaters in the fall for the 25th anniversary of it’s release!

The movie, which stars Tim Robbins and Morgan Freeman, will be playing in select theaters on Sept. 22, 24 and 25. The movie tells the story of Andy Dufresne, played by Robbins, who is wrongfully convicted of murder and ends up in prison with Red (Freeman). Over twenty years, the two men become best friends as they help each other survive behind bars.

The movie was nominated for seven Academy Awards, including Best Picture and Best Actor In A Leading Role for Freeman. Though the film was not a huge box office hit initially, earning just $16 million in it’s initial run, it became a massive hit when it was released on video. These days, it can often be seen on television, as it remains a popular movie for various networks to run.

The movie’s return to theaters is being run by Fathom Events, who said that screenings will incorporate exclusive insights from Turner Classic Movies. If you go to the Fathom Events website, you can search your zip code too see if the the movie will be playing at a theater near you. This is definitely a movie that everyone should see on the big screen, so if you are a fan of it, you do not want to miss this!
