Succulents are the latest rage in the flower world because of how low maintenance and beautiful they are. From succulents that are shaped like bunnies to those that look like tiny dolphins, people just can’t get enough of them, and photos of the flowers are going viral in a big way.
One of the most gorgeous succulents looks like a blooming rose, and it is known as the Mountain Rose succulent. It is a rare variety of the Aeonium genus, and photos of it are nothing short of magnificent looking.
The World Of Succulents states that the rose succulent is botanically referred to as Aeonium dodrantale or Greenovia dodrantalis. It includes packed leaves that look like the layered petals of a rose in bloom, and it looks like something right out of a fairytale! The Mountain Rose is native to the Canary Islands in Spain, and it grows as stemless rosettes typically in clusters, making it look like a bouquet of roses.
During the dry season, this succulent goes into a dormant state with its leaves (or petals) remaining tightly closed to stop excessive water loss. Though it can survive through the summer in this dormant state, the Greenovia dodrantalis prefers moist shade to grow. In it’s main growing season between winter and spring, the succulent can grow up to 2.4 inches (6 cm) in diameter with yellow flowers appearing in the spring.
The succulent has gained quite a following on social media, with people all over the world getting a big kick over photos of it.
Plants like this one remind us how lucky we are to live in a beautiful world like this one! Mother Nature really does never cease to amaze.
