A man who was having a fun night out with friends just went above and beyond to save the life of a baby bird.

Tim Crowley was in the middle of a weekend get-together with friends in Clinton, Utah when they suddenly saw a baby bird fall right out of the sky. Tim immediately picked the baby bird up and called Wildlife Rehabilitation Center of Northern Utah (WRCNU), where rescue workers told him to bring the bird in for treatment immediately.

Unfortunately, since Tim and his friends had been drinking, they did not feel that they were capable of driving at that time. Undeterred, Tim decided to call an Uber so that the bird could get treatment quickly.

“At first it was a joke, like, ‘Hey, maybe we should just call Uber!’” Tim said. “Then we were like, ‘No, really. Why not? We’re paying them.’”

Tim and his friends called Uber and told the driver about the unusual passenger they wanted him to pick up. The original driver cancelled the trip because of the bizarre nature of the journey, but the second driver was up for the challenge. Without hesitating, the female driver agreed to rush the baby bird to the WRCNU!

Rescue workers were a bit puzzled when the Uber showed up, but they did not hesitate to treat the bird, who they have since named “Petey Uber.” They have since nursed Petey Uber back to help, and they say that he will likely be ready to be released back into the wild just in time for the migration season at the end of the summer, all thanks to Tim’s quick thinking!
