A grandmother from North Carolina who had been missing for five days after going out on her daily walk and never returned was just found alive by her grandson and a group of his friends who wanted to search for her one last time.

The family of Sandra Adams went to spend some time with her last Friday morning, only to find that she was missing. They had last seen her two days before, and worried for her safety, they called the police. Officers with the Charlotte Police Department looked everywhere for Sandra, but they were not able to find the 69 year-old woman and soon gave up their search.

Sandra’s grandson Nate Cassel then decided to gather a group of his friends and go looking for his grandmother himself. Figuring that she had to be somewhere around her apartment building, Nate and his friends started looking for her in the woods behind it.

“He wanted to go look in the woods—I woke up this morning with the same idea: Let’s go search the woods in the neighborhood,” said Nate’s friend Shawn Willis, who also took part in the search.

After walking a quarter of a mile into the woods, Nate and his friends found Sandra lying face-down in a creek. Nate feared the worst as he approached his grandma, but then he saw her lift her arm. It was then that he realized that she was alive!

Sandra later said that she fell while going for her daily walk, and thanks to her grandson and his friends, she is now expected to make a full recovery. Find out more about this incredible story in the video below!
