Chickens are not necessarily known as the most beautiful creatures in the world, but a new internet craze is finally giving them the chance to shine like never before!

The latest viral craze to sweep the internet is photos of chickens wearing tutus. The images are sure to bring a smile to your face and to make you appreciate chickens like you never have before!

Though animals can’t perform the intricate choreography that humans are capable of, they are still able to dance. Ed Hagen, an anthropologist at Washington State University who is an expert on the roots of dance, explained that there have been tons of instances of animals dancing in nature. He said that they dance as a means of communicating and finding a mate, and chickens are one type of animal who has been seen doing this.

Extension poultry scientists from the University of Georgia stated that the process of finding a mate through dance consists of a series of steps in chickens. This includes “dropping one wing and dancing in a circle (the lowered wing will be on the inside of the circle dance). The hen will crouch (dip her head and body) to indicate receptiveness to the male. The rooster will then mount the hen and grab her comb, neck feathers, or the skin on the back of her head or neck to help hold onto the hen’s back.”

Believe it or not, there are more chickens on earth than humans, as there are a whopping 25 billion of them. In addition, there are more chickens than any other type of bird species.

Chickens are also fiercely intelligent, as they can remember 100 different faces of people or animals, with memories rivaling those of elephants. Some research has even suggested that chickens are smarter than human toddlers! On top of that, hens have shown mathematical reasoning, self-control and even structural engineering.

We’re glad to see that this viral craze has given people a new appreciation for chickens!
