Chick-Fil-A Veteran Drops Everything To Change Elderly WWII Veteran’s Tire

When a 96 year-old World War II veteran named Mr. Lee walked into his local Chick-fil-A to say that he needed help changing a tire, the restaurant’s manager Daryl Howard did not hesitate to run outside to assist him.

Daryl was working his normal shift at the register of the Maryland Chick-fil-A when Mr. Lee made his way to the front of the line and asked for help. Mr. Lee, who is a frequent customer at the restaurant, was clearly very stressed about his situation.

“He was shaking, almost in tears saying he barely made it to the store on three tires because one was bad,” said Rudy Somoza, another Chick-fil-A manager.

As soon as Mr. Lee got the words about his flat tire out, Darryl was running outside to help him.

“As soon as he finished his sentence, Daryl informed me he needed to help this gentleman right now,” Rudy said. “So, Daryl jumped into action without hesitation.”

Rudy followed Daryl outside to snap some photos, and when he posted them online, they quickly went viral.

“His action of kindness was beautiful,” Rudy said. “Daryl has always been so helpful to anyone in need and deserves this recognition.”

Daryl’s kind deed completely embodies what Chick-fil-A is all about. Truett Cathy, the founder of Chick-fil-A, always said that his Christian faith played a huge role in how he ran his business.

“I’d like to be remembered as one who kept my priorities in the right order,” he once said. “I have always encouraged my restaurant operators and team members to give back to the local community. We should be about more than just selling chicken, we should be a part of our customers’ lives and the communities in which we serve.”

I think we can all agree that Truett would be very proud of Daryl for what he did. Find out more about what Daryl’s act of kindness in the video below.
