When Todd Bachman’s daughter Brittany recently got married, he could not have been more proud of her. On her big day, however, Bachman decided to do something unusual to make sure that the stepfather who helped raise her got to participate as well.

When it was time for Bachman to walk Brittany down the aisle, he shocked everyone by stopping the wedding and grabbing her stepdad Todd Cendrosky so that they could SHARE the honor of giving her away. The touching moment was captured by photographer Delia D. Blackburn, and it immediately went viral on social media.

“It was one of the most compassionate gestures toward a stepparent I’ve ever seen,” Delia said. “The bride was in tears and overcome with emotion.”

Cendrosky said that he was both touched and stunned by Bachman’s gesture.

“[He] came and grabbed my hand and said: ‘You worked as hard as I have. You’ll help us walk our daughter down the aisle,'” Cendrosky recounted. “I got weak in the knees and lost it. Nothing better in my life, the most impactful moment in my life.”

Bachman admitted that while he has not always gotten along with Cendrosky, it felt right to include him in the wedding.

“For me to thank him for all the years of helping raise our daughter wouldn’t be enough,” Bachman said. “There is no better way to thank somebody than to assist me walking her down the aisle.”
