Artist Hides Gorgeous Sculptures In Denmark Forest To Get People To Visit It

Thomas Dambo is an artist from Denmark who has made a name for himself by making incredible and enormous sculptures and then hiding them in the forests just outside of Copenhagen in the hopes of encouraging people to visit them.

Thomas has loved building things all his life, and while he studied carpentry in school, he soon “grew tired of the repetitiveness and applied to Kolding School of design, which he graduated from in 2011.” These days, Thomas works with a group of volunteers who gather supplies for him and then help him install his large creations in the forests. Thomas shows his appreciation by naming each sculpture after a person who donated time to the project.

Thomas makes his sculptures using salvaged wood, hundreds of shipping pallets, fencing, and even an old shed. He is able to make them without producing more waste or taking natural resources. The artist said on his website that he “hopes to inspire people to have fun and think of trash as a resource.”

Each of Thomas’ sculptures has a riddle that will then help you find the next sculpture. What a fun adventure to have in the great outdoors!

Though most of Thomas’ creations are in Denmark, he has created art all over the world, everywhere from South Korea to Puerto Rico. His work is also on display in the United States in Florida, Kentucky, and Illinois.

“I hope my art will inspire people to see the big potential in recycling and taking better care of our planet,” Thomas once said.
