When Zoe Figueroa turned 8, she had a whole lot more to celebrate than just her birthday, as she was also celebrating the news that she was finally done with cancer treatments after 16 long months!

Zoe was diagnosed with stage 4 neuroblastoma back in February of 2018, and doctors found a tumor that went from her chest to her pelvis. They told her parents that Zoe’s odds of making it through this were slim.

“Fifty percent of kids don’t make it,” her mother Sheena said.

Zoe underwent a brutal treatment routine that included seven cycles of chemotherapy plus radiation, surgery, immunotherapy, and two stem cell transplants. Through it all, Zoe stayed strong, and she managed to finish her treatments just before her 8th birthday. To celebrate her recovery, Zoe’s parents threw her a party that was attended by 250 people.

“When we started in this, we weren’t sure if she would make it or she wouldn’t,” Sheena said. “It was really important for us to commemorate what she had been through by celebrating her and her life with a party.”

Now, Zoe is just excited to move on with her life and enjoy time with her family.

“Now we go back to normal life, she can go back to school, we can do things as a family that we weren’t able to do before,” Sheena explained. “It’s just a blessing. A huge blessing.”

To pay this blessing forward, Zoe decided to do something truly incredible with all the birthday gifts she received. Instead of keeping them for herself, she donated them to all the other kids battling cancer in the hospital where she was treated! Find out more about why this amazing little girl did this in the video below.
