Prince Harry May Have Named Archie After Special Person From His Past

Earlier this month, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle welcomed their first child, a baby boy they named Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor. Now, a possible reason behind them choosing this name has been revealed.

While nobody knows for sure why the royals chose this name, one source just said that they picked Archie in honor of Major Tom Archer-Burton, who goes by Archie and was Harry’s commanding officer in the army. Harry spent ten years serving in the military, and his service is one of the things that he is most proud of in his life.

“It’s well known in Army circles, and Archie’s inner circle, that baby Archie is a nod to him,” the source said, adding that Archer-Burton played a pivotal role in Harry’s life and that the two are still very close.

“The two men have stayed in regular contact, and Archie has met most of Harry’s family, including Meghan,” the source continued. “It’s an incredible honor but Archie is an incredibly modest chap, and won’t be making a big deal of it. Archie convinced Harry to stay in the Army and I’m delighted that Harry has named his son after someone who played such an important role in his life.”

Everyone was stunned when Harry and Meghan chose the name Archie, as oddsmakers had predicted that they would choose a name like Arthur, James, or Albert. As for the Harrison part of his name, it has been speculated that this is a nod to Harry, as it literally means “son of Harry.” However, Meghan’s etiquette coach believes it’s actually an ode to Meghan’s favorite Beatle George Harrison.

“She has a great fond feeling for George Harrison and that’s where that name came from,” explained etiquette teacher Edmund Fry.  “She’s a great fan of The Beatles.”

In addition, Harry and Meghan have chosen not to give their child a royal title so that he will have more normalcy in life.

“The Duke and Duchess of Sussex wanted their son to be as normal as possible to begin with, hence no use of the title Earl of Dumbarton,” said royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams.
