Fans of the DIY Network series “Nashville Flipped” are in shock right now after it was revealed that the show’s star Troy Dean Shafer died in his sleep on April 28 at the age of 38.

Troy’s family was stunned by his death, as the construction worker had no known medical problems. While no autopsy was performed, toxicology reports are expected to be released sometime in the coming weeks.

Troy reportedly died in his hometown of Erie, Pennsylvania and was laid to rest last week in a small private funeral.

A graduate of Penn State University, Troy moved to Nashville, Tennessee ten years ago to become a singer. When he was not able to find success in the music world, he used his construction skills to pitch the idea of the show “Nashville Flipped,” which revolves around refurbishing old houses dating back to the 180os.

The DIY Network said on their website that Troy “has saved, restored and flipped dozens of historic homes in Nashville. Troy also specializes in creating beautiful era-specific custom pieces for clients who own historic properties.”

The show premiered in 2016, and it also stars Rob Kuskin and Sean Roberge.

“The DIY Network family is sorry to hear about the passing of Troy Dean Shafer, a dedicated, driven entrepreneur and restoration expert who was admired by everyone who worked on the series ‘Nashville Flipped,'” the network said in a statement after his death. “We continue to extend our deepest condolences to Troy’s family and friends during this difficult time.”

Troy is survived by his wife Becky, and he will be dearly missed.
