An adorable video is going viral this week showing a 6 year-old girl helping to feed her 4 year-old brother who is struggling with a muscle disease that makes it difficult for him to feed himself.

The video shows a little girl named Aubree spooning food into her little brother Trevor’s mouth before wiping dribble away from his chin at their home in Martinsburg, West Virginia. Trevor suffers from Spinal Muscular Atrophy, a neurological condition that makes it so that the boy can’t control his muscles. This means that he needs help lifting anything, even a fork.

Spinal Muscular Atrophy is caused by a mutation in the spinal cord, and it leads to muscle wasting since sufferers have no control over their muscles. While the condition can wreak havoc on the body, it has no affect on someone’s ability to think, learn, and build relationships with others.

Aubree clearly has no problem helping her brother out, as she has a smile on her face throughout the entire video. He’s so lucky to have a big sister like her!

“Four-year-old Trevor has a disease called SMA,” the video is captioned. “In layman’s terms, he has no muscle. Which makes holding a fork very difficult for him. In the video Aubree, 6, stays and helps him eat even though her friends and sister are outside playing.”

Trevor is going to have to face numerous challenges in his life, but with his big sister Aubree by his side, we’re sure that he’ll be just fine! Check out the heartwarming video below.
