Few things are more annoying than waking up with a painful headache. Next time you’re suffering from a headache, try this natural remedy to get rid of it.

Experts say that lavender oil is one of the mildest essential oils that exists in the world. Lavender oil is a chemically complex structure with 150 active constituents. Lavender oil offers numerous health benefits, and it produces an anti-inflammatory, sedative, analgesic, antifungal, antidepressant, antiseptic, antibacterial, antimicrobial, antispasmodic, detoxifier, and hypotensive effect.

Lavender aromatherapy is often used to relieve pre-surgery distress, and it is known for being even more effective than a massage. A team of scientists from Florida just found that lavender oil can help to treat anxiety, as it served to lower the pulse of their test subjects. Specifically, the researchers found that lavender oil (10%) has the power to relax patients, improve their mood, treat anxiety, boost scores of alpha power on EEG (indicator of alertness) and increase speed of mathematical calculations.

If you just add five to six drops of lavender oil to your bath, it will help to treat dry skin and relax your body. Adding ten to twelve drops will then naturally help to reduce your stress. Another great way to consume lavender oil is through lavender lemonade, and here’s what you need to make it:

  • ¼ cup dried lavender (culinary)
  • 6 lemons, peeled and juiced
  • 1 cup raw honey
  • 5 cups filtered water
  • Lavender springs (garnish)

All you have to do is boil half a liter of water in a pot before turning the heat on low and adding your honey and lavender. Then simmer for twenty more minutes and strain before adding the rest of the water and your fresh lemon juice. Be sure to stir it well before you drink it!

The next time you are feeling anxious or suffering from a headache, give this natural remedy a try!
