Kaylah Bell is a 17 year-old high school student from Lancaster, California who did not get a date for her prom, so she decided to go to the dance with a group of her friends. As Kaylah got ready to show off her beautiful dress and custom pink and purple cape, she had no idea that her grandfather had a very special surprise in store for her.

When Kaylah and her friends met up to take some photos before they went out, her grandfather Alvin Hackett walked out wearing a color-coordinated outfit that perfectly matched her dress. He was not about to let his granddaughter go to her prom without a date!

Alvin went so far as to bring Kaylah a rose corsage and a matching boutonniere for himself. Kaylah was both shocked and delighted by this surprise from her grandpa!

“My friends thought it was so adorable, because they knew how hard it was for me to find a date, and they know how much I love my grandpa,” she said. “Everyone was taking pictures of us, I think it made his day.”

Kaylah was so touched by what her grandfather was doing for her that she took to Twitter to tell the world about it, writing, “My papa knew I didn’t have a date to my prom so he matched me!”

Kaylah’s post quickly went viral, as people all over the world were touched by her grandfather’s grand gesture.

“My papa matching was truly a blessing to me, it makes me emotional to think about it because we are super close,” Kaylah said. “I really just felt blessed that I was able to create this memory with him.”

We should all be so lucky as to have a grandfather like Alvin!
