A poacher was just given a deadly dose of karma when he was killed while illegally hunting for animals in South Africa.

The poacher was hunting in Kruger National Park, which is the world’s largest game reserves on the planet and home to lions, cheetahs, zebra, elephants and rhinos. While hunting there is illegal, many choose to do so anyway in the hopes of leaving with a prize that will make them wealthy.

Last Thursday, park officials found the remains of the suspected rhino-poacher after the man’s accomplices told the hunter’s family that he had been trampled by elephants while on the hunt.

Park officials were only able to find the man’s skull and his tattered pants, as lions had eaten the rest of his remains. The deceased hunter’s accomplices have since been arrested, and they are due to appear in court later this week.

Poaching continues to be a huge issue in the world despite the fact that many countries have greatly cracked down on it. Poaching is particularly bad in South Africa, where 80% of the world’s rhinos can be found. Last year alone, 769 rhinos were killed by poachers, and over 7000 of them have been lost to poaching in the past ten years.

This isn’t the first time a poacher has been killed in Kruger this year. Back in February, a poacher was killed and eaten by lions while trying to hunt for animals. Rescue workers only found his skull and a loaded shotgun at a spot where lions are known to eat.

Hopefully, these incidents will serve to encourage others to not resort to poaching. We need to do whatever we can to end the poaching epidemic once and for all!
