Kathie Lee Gifford left the “Today” show this past week after hosting the fourth hour with her cohost Hoda Kotb for eleven years. Prior to that, Gifford had spent years hosting “Live! With Regis and Kathie Lee,” and her cohost from that show Regis Philbin sent her a touching goodbye message when she left “Today.”

In his message, Regis told Kathie Lee that the fifteen years he spent cohosting with her, from 1985-2000, were the best years of his life.

“We stayed friends through the entire game and it was a lot of fun,” Regis said, going on to wish Kathie Lee the best in her future endeavors. “Where you are right now, I know you’re going to be moving on to a great new career, making movies. And since I’ve seen the first one, I know you’re going to be a great success. I mean it.”

“I want you to know how I will always remember the great times that we had working together, and how you are as a person. Just great,” Regis concluded.

His message for her was so touching that it brought Kathie Lee to tears. Afterwards, she simply mouthed the words, “I love you, Reg.”

“He called me yesterday,” Kathie Lee said of Regis. “He and Joy called me yesterday and we had a lovely talk. He’s coming back to Greenwich for the summer so we’ll be seeing him.”

It’s so nice to see that after all these years, Regis and Kathie Lee are still the best of friends. Check out his goodbye message to her below.
