At 92 years of age, Queen Elizabeth has lived a truly remarkable life. Now, we’d like to take a look back at the amazing life that she has led by looking at some photos of her through the years.

Princess Elizabeth Alexandra Mary was born on April 21, 1926 to the future King George VI and his wife, Lady Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon.

Four years later, Elizabeth was followed by her baby sister, Princess Margaret Rose. Elizabeth was 11 years-old when her father became king, and during World War II, she joined the Auxiliary Territorial Service, where she completed a course on vehicle maintenance.

Elizabeth met her future husband Philip Mountbatten at a royal wedding in 1934, and they spent years corresponding before they finally became engaged in 1946. In 1947, they married in a beautiful ceremony at Westminster Abbey that was broadcast over the radio to millions of people all over the world.

Over the next few years, the couple welcomed Prince Charles and Princess Anne in 1948 and 1950.

The family’s life changed forever when King George VI died in 1952. At the time, Elizabeth and Philip were in Kenya, and they rushed home so that she could take up her duties as Queen. She was coronated in 1953, and she has been on the throne ever since.

At the end of 1953, Elizabeth and Philip embarked on a six month tour of the commonwealth that took them to Australia, Bermuda, Fiji, Tonga, Jamaica, Panama and New Zealand.

While maintaining her queenly duties, Elizabeth also raised her oldest two children.

In the 1960s, Elizabeth and Philip welcomed two more sons, with Prince Andrew being born in 1960 and Prince Edward coming along in 1964.

In 1977, when she was 51 years-old, Elizabeth celebrated her silver jubilee as queen 25 years after she took the throne. By this time, she had cemented herself as an incredibly popular ruler.

In 1981, Charles married Princess Diana in a ceremony that was watched by millions of people. Unfortunately, the marriage did not last and they divorced in 1996, with Diana tragically dying one year later.

Elizabeth and Philip have eight grandchildren, and they enjoy close relationships with each and every one of them.

2002 was a difficult year for the Queen, as her sister Margaret died of a stroke in February of that year at the age of 71. One year later, her mother the Queen Mother died at the age of 101.

These days, the Queen is going as strong as ever as she prepares to turn 93 later this month, and she’s showing no signs of slowing down! Here’s hoping that she enjoys good health for many years to come!
