A few years ago, a little boy who was often referred to as “Baby Boy Unknown” was surrendered at an urgent care clinic in Oklahoma by his homeless mother. Now, years later, it has been revealed that the little boy is now a toddler who is thriving with his loving adopted family!

Todd and Amy, who did not provide their last names, are a couple who moved from Pennsylvania to Oklahoma in 2015. As soon as they made the move, the couple signed up to be foster parents, and they later received a call from their foster and adoption agency that they needed to come in immediately.

As they made their way to the office, Todd casually mentioned a story he’d seen on the news about Baby Boy Unknown.

“That is the saddest thing ever. Do you think that is our baby?” Amy remembers asking, to which Todd responded, “I doubt it. He’s probably pretty sick.”

When they arrived at the adoption agency, they saw right away that the staffers had been crying, and they immediately thought something was wrong. Then, a staffer handed Amy a newspaper clipping about the baby boy they had just been talking about, telling her, “He’s waiting for you in the NICU. He’s yours.”

“There are no words to describe all the emotions I felt at that moment,” Amy wrote in a post on social media. “They explained they wanted both of us there to tell us at the same time that us being a match … was nothing short of God. That’s why they had been emotional and crying; they had just witnessed God. Even now, this brings goosebumps and tears. It blows our mind that God chose us to be his parents.”

“We ended up spending the next week with him in the [neonatal intensive care unit] and then he came home,” Amy later added. “We went through the whole adoption process — it had its ups and downs, but we made it through — and a year later, he was officially ours.”

The baby boy was officially adopted by Todd and Amy in November of 2016, and he has been doing well with them ever since! The couple lovingly refer to their little boy as a “little tornado” who is full of life and spunk.

“He has brought so much fun and joy to our family,” the couple wrote on social media. “God moved some mighty big mountains to align our paths. It has been a huge reminder that God’s plan is better than we could ever imagine. We want all the people who prayed for him to know that their prayers were answered before they were spoken.”

The little boy turned 3 in November, and Todd and Amy are hoping that their story will inspire others to look into adoption and foster care.
