Engagement rings are things that people treasure for their entire lives, as they symbolize the love that you have with the partner that you share your life with. Losing your engagement ring is a heartbreaking experience, but this is exactly what happened to Mary Grams back in 2004.

Mary was working in her garden one day when she noticed that her engagement ring was no longer on her finger. She frantically looked all over the garden for her ring, but she could not find it anyway. Devastated and dejected, Mary moved on with her life, comforted by the fact that she still had the love of her husband even if she did not have the engagement ring he gave her all those years ago.

Mary’s husband Norm had bought her the ring 53 years before in 1951, and instead of telling him that she lost it, she bought a replacement that looked like the original.

“I didn’t tell him, even, because I thought for sure he’d give me heck or something.” she said.

Thirteen years went by, and Mary’s daughter-in-law was digging up her garden one day when something unusual caught her eye. As she pulled up some carrots, she saw that an engagement ring was attached to one of them!

“I asked my husband if he recognized the ring. And he said yeah. His mother had lost her engagement ring years ago in the garden and never found it again,” the daughter-in-law said. “And it turned up on this carrot.”

Sadly, Mary’s husband died five years ago, but she was still ecstatic to be able to wear the ring again. The ring was miraculously in perfect condition, and even after all these years, Mary was happy to find that “it still fits.”
