Here’s Why You Should Be Drinking Water First Thing After Waking Up

Experts are now saying that drinking water first thing in the morning after you wake up could have many benefits to your overall health. Water cleanses the colon and improves the absorption of nutrients, and it has many other benefits to your health as well.

Back in the 1970s, Dr. Fereydoon Batmanghelidj confirmed that water can help in the treatment of hypertension, arthritis, asthma, autoimmune disorders, diabetes and migraine. After graduating from St. Mary’s Hospital Medical School in London University, Batmanghelidj returned to his home country of Iran, where he was arrested and sentenced to two and a half years in prison as a political prisoner. During his time behind bars, he confirmed his theory about water by treating 3,000 fellow inmates diagnosed with stress-induced peptic ulcer disease through water therapy.

In 1982, Batmanghelidj fled Iran and moved to the United States, where he continued to reveal more about the effect of chronic unintentional dehydration on the body. He explained that thirst is often mistaken for a symptom of other diseases, and if you keep yourself hydrated, you will avoid the development of different health conditions and treatments.

Water therapy involves drinking an 8oz glass of filtered water right after waking up and then not eating anything for 45 minutes before having breakfast. Batmanghelidj says that you should drink a glass of water before every meal, and another one a couple of hours after the meals. If you do this, you will quickly see many benefits to your health!

Not only does water cleans the colon, it also boosts metabolism by 24% within an hour and a half, improves your skin complexion, and helps to prevent mood swings. Drinking water will also help your immune system as well as your digestion.
