If you’re anything like me, you love your cup of coffee in the morning. Now, however, experts are speaking out to reveal the many health benefits of drinking coffee.

An estimated 54% of Americans drink coffee, which is full of phytonutrients and beneficial compounds that affect health positively. Coffee is full of riboflavin, pantothenic acid, potassium, magnesium, manganese, and niacine, and drinking it will improve your health in numerous ways.

Just one 80oz (240ml) cup of coffee contains:

  • Vitamin B2 (Riboflavin): 11% of the RDA.
  • Vitamin B5 (Pantothenic Acid): 6% of the RDA.
  • Vitamin B1 (Thiamin): 2% of the RDA.
  • Vitamin B3 (Niacin): 2% of the RDA.
  • Folate: 1% of the RDA.
  • Manganese: 3% of the RDA.
  • Potassium: 3% of the RDA.
  • Magnesium: 2% of the RDA.
  • Phosphorus: 1% of the RDA.

Coffee will also help lower your risk of liver disease, with experts saying that those who drink coffee have an 84% lower risk of cirrhosis. It also lowers your risk of Alzheimer’s disease by 65% and your risk of diabetes by 23-67%.

In addition, drinking coffee gives you a 20% lower risk of depression, with researchers saying that people who drank four  or more cups of coffee had a 53% lower risk of suicide. Coffee also blocks an innhibitory neurotransmitter called adenosine and improves brain activity while stimulating the release of norepinephrine, dopamine and other neurotransmitters.

While there are many benefits to drinking coffee, there are a few drawbacks. Coffee is addictive, and drinking it too much “dilutes” its effect, with your body craving for more. Drinking too much coffee can lead to headache, tiredness, brain fog and irritability.
