Gary Sinise is a Hollywood actor who has spent years giving back to veterans who have valiantly served their country. Recently, Gary stepped up once again to give an incredible gift to a veteran who had both of his legs amputated while serving.

Caleb Brewer of Tuscon, Arizona enlisted in the U.S. Army Reserves as a Sergeant 1st Class back in 2005. Seven years later, Caleb joined the Green Berets and he spent the next three years on deployment in Afghanistan. Tragically, on his 31st birthday, Caleb stepped on an IED, an Improvised Explosive Device, and the explosion cost him both his legs. On top of that, he was also left with a traumatic brain injury.

Caleb refused to let this break him, and he quickly progressed through rehabilitation. Just four months later, he was already walking on prosthetics, and he created a special workout room in his house so he could stay in shape.

In addition, Caleb started helping out other disabled veterans as a trainer so that they could also get some of their independence back like he did.

Gary, who is best known for playing Lt. Dan in the 1994 classic movie Forrest Gump, was so touched when he heard Caleb’s story that he encouraged him to apply for RISE, which is his foundation’s way of Restoring Independence and Supporting Empowerment for veterans.

It didn’t take long for Caleb’s application to be accepted, and before long, he was moving into a brand new house courtesy of the Gary Sinise Foundation!

The house is designed specifically for Caleb, as it has cabinets pull down and an oven that is at chest level. These days, Caleb is happier than ever living there with his wife and two daughters.
